Gideon’s Bakehouse is a very popular bakery in central Florida. There are two locations, one is in Disney Springs. It’s a favorite for our family while we are on a Disney vacation. They are famous for their almost half-pound cookies. They serve around seven classic flavors, and also have few seasonal flavors that rotate monthly. They also serve coffees as well as cake slices. Along with their famous cookies they also have famously long lines to wait in to get those said cookies.

Are the long lines worth it for a cookie? The Disney Springs location is so popular that you might have to wait hours in a virtual queue before being able to even get in the physical line. When my family goes to Disney we like to go to Gideon’s on an off day from the parks, and we get in line as soon as Disney Springs opens to avoid the longer virtual queue. We either save the cookies for later or get a coffee cake cookie— which is great in the morning! Keep in mind: even if you get there early you’ll still have to wait a while in a line. This February we went to Gideon’s first thing on a Wednesday morning and ended up waiting for 45 minutes—but I’ll still take that over hours in the virtual queue!

Let’s get to the fun part! Is Gideons actually worth it? When we went we got several cookies, including coffee cake, banana nut, pistachio toffee chocolate chip, and cookies and cream. We also got two coffees: we tried their peanut butter coffee (which they are famous for) and their classic. As far as the cookies go, they really are popular for a reason! All of the cookies we got were delicious—my favorite was the banana nut, which tasted like banana bread in cookie form. I’ve definitely never had a cookie like that before and it was a great one for the morning as well! My husband loved the coffee cake cookie. It was very cinnamony and crumbly like coffee cake. The Pistachio toffee was delicious and packed with toffee and pistachio. Their cookies are massive and super dense and rich (so a little goes a long way), yet they aren’t overly sweet or artificial tasting, and I love that about them. Another thing I really love about Gideon’s cookies is they are not lacking in fillings. The original chocolate chip cookie is absolutely crammed with chocolate chips–you will get several in each bite. Whatever the flavor is, it will never be lacking! If I’m going to wait in a long line and pay six dollars for a cookie, it has to be something really unique that you won’t be able to find anywhere else: these are just that.

As for the coffees they were sadly a big no from me. I would definitely not order coffee there again, especially because the coffees and cookies are the same price point at $6 each. After tasting the coffee I was disappointed–-we should have just gotten two more cookies and skipped the coffee entirely. Both coffees were insanely sweet. Personally, when I’m having a sweet treat, I would rather have a coffee with it that is barely sweet or not sweet at all. Even if I wasn’t having it with the cookie though, the coffee would have been way too sugary for me. It was like sipping straight syrup. But hey, if you’re into the idea of a super sweet peanut butter coffee, go for it! They are famous for it after all. But I would highly suggest ordering light on the syrup. It was even too sweet for my husband (who has a major sweet tooth).

Overall, despite coffees that I thought were a miss, and the long lines, Gideon’s is a must do for me when we’re on a Disney trip—for the cookies alone. The cookies really are THAT good in my opinion— especially as a cookie lover! They have unique flavors, and the menu is always changing with monthly flavors, making it fun to visit again and again! My recommendations are to visit as early as you can to avoid the virtual queue and to NOT get sucked into ordering a coffee. Just go straight for those delicious cookies!
