The Brick Oven Bakery is a welcome addition to the Bismarck food scene. Now it’s its 5th year, this place is generally hopping with excited customers eager to indulge in a delectable offerings of sweet and savory French themed pastries. Owners Steve and Sandy Jacobson were spot on in discerning Bismarck’s need for this bakery. Previously a landscaper Steve went to train at the world-renowned San Francisco Baking Institute and his craft now shines through every item on the menu. With great service, discerned pricing, and beautifully crafted pastries you won’t want to miss this spot whenever you’re in Bismarck.

Brick oven bakery is the place to be in Bismarck for sweet or savory breakfast treats.  With a French approach to the bakery items, the long lines are worth the wait.  Sandy and Steve are from Bismarck and opened the restaurant five years ago in 2019 because Sandy says “Bismarck needed this and my passion is to do things the right way”.  When it comes to their array of sweet and savory offerings they have created a North Dakota culinary treasure stop for anyone wanting the breakfast best!   This place nails it with every item!

Brick oven bakery is also a premier coffee spot with plenty of room for meeting a friend or a romantic morning date!  Whether you’re looking for a Carmel latte, an espresso, or a mocha you’re in the right place. The coffee bar is outstanding.  My wife ordered a cafe miel and commented that it was simply lovely!

The bakery items shine here and what we found so incredible is that every item we ordered was top-notch.  There were three types of cruffins; strawberry, Nutella, and vanilla.  For those new to Brick Oven Bakery the cruffin is a cross between a croissant and a muffin and filled with various creamy delightful flavor fillings.  We tried the vanilla and Nutella and yeah, when are we going back? 

In addition to all the sweets, there’s an array of savory items as well.  From the breakfast sandwiches to their sandwich croissants or butter croissants, brunch just keeps getting better.   Their sandwich eggs are made in the traditional French style of light buttery soft eggs with an added touch of chives so that every bite is a melts-your-mouth experience.   

With so many options and so much to choose from, you will simply have an incredible experience every time you stop here.  The food is high-quality. The service is fast and friendly, and although the lines are long, it’s worth the wait.
